WIP Punk Character Designs

As a character artist I have created multiple groups of characters that fit in the same universe. I am currently working on one of those groups that I want to create a story for along with individual illustrations. This group of characters are based in the 90’s and are rooted in the punk rock/ alternative subculture. I wanted to create a new group of people that had new funky fresh designs. I fell into a pattern of creating “basic” designs of normal people and I wanted to create characters that stood out from each other but at the same time fit into a group.

Archie

Archie is the first character that I designed, and it was by accident. I was sketching out idea’s for a different project and got distracted and sketched out a new way of drawing character faces and Boom… Archie was born.

Archie is in his 20’s and works at the Rufus Animal Rescue organization that was created by one of his closest friends. He is quiet but all his friend will tell you that he will not shut up about anything he is passionate about. Archie identifies as Pansexual and is also Transgender. In high school and College he ran a support group for Queer youth to help them understand themselves and provide protection for those who needed it.

Here are headshots of all the characters that are apart of this group of friends. Each one has their own quirks and weird traits. I created each character to have their own unique defining color pallet and features that set them apart from the others.

WIP- Game Character Series

I love video game’s, it was something that my brother and I used to bond over when we were children. This love has grown into an interest to develop various character’s and storylines that could one day be turned into a video game. My inspiration for this story is drawn from the 2014 Cartoon Network show Over The Garden Wall. It is about two sisters who find themselves on a train and they have to find their way home.

Dungeons and Dragons Characters

Dungeons and Dragons has gone from something that only “nerds” play to a widely accepted and popular roleplaying game seen in main media. It allows people to let loose and unwind through complex storylines and well rounded characters. These characters belong to my brother and his campaign. He commissioned me to bring his and his friends characters to life.

Creature Illustrations

I love Cryptids, or Cryptozoological creatures. I find their lore so interesting because there are so many interpretations of their origins and almost every culture has their own version of them. Although it terrifies me, I have a fascination of the unknown and creatures whos existence is highly debated falls perfectly into that category. I have created both fun and lighthearted work and serious work that has a darker edges.

Misc. Character Illustrations

I have many illustrations that can fit into multiple categories, there are also some that are stand alone illustrations and are not part of a larger group to come. These really explore the range of work that I do and enjoy, I find that experimenting in style and subject help build a well rounded artist and that I don’t like limiting myself to a specific art box.
